Our Story

  1. Forming an Idea

    2022

At the time of the first idea to develop a software framework like atomiq ONE, Thomas, Christian and Suthep where all working in scientific groups, part of a common consortium. It was on a status meeting of that consortium, that we diiscovered that each group was developing the same kind of software of their own. All a bit different but all in a "grown", non well scalable way. This is where we decided to join forces and develop a common, more sturdy framework to control ARTIQ-based cold atom experiments from the ground up. 2. Expanding the Codebase

    2024

With Christian and Suthep finishing their PhDs in summer 2024, development started to pick up, including the integration of atomiq in multiple cold atom experiments in the core teams groups. At the end of the year, the development of the HEROS started, which grew quickly into the ARTIQ-independent backbone of atomiq ONE.
  3. Going Public

    2025

With the framework proven in the labs of the core team and the basic functionalities implemented, atomiq ONE started to approach a broader community, spearheaded by a webinar with over 50 attendants. Since then atomiq ONE spawned great interest in research groups around the world.
